Edgewood H.S. president writes letter to community after lawsuit filed

MADISON (WKOW) — The president of Edgewood High School wrote a letter to the Edgewood community, addressing the lawsuit the school filed against the city of Madison, alleging religious discrimination.

In it, Mike Elliot says it was not a hasty or uneducated decision and that they promised to do their best to avoid litigation.

After a months-long battle, Edgewood is suing over whether it can use its new athletic field to host games.

Elliot said they held listening sessions with neighbors to address concerns and reach a consensus.

This past spring, the city issued Edgewood violations for hosting games on the field, citing the school’s master plan which only allows the field to be used for practices and gym class.

Elliot is urging residents to reach out to the mayor and city leaders to support Edgewood terminating the master plan.
