UPDATE: Madison police arrest suspect in James Madison Park stabbing

UPDATE (WKOW) — Madison police arrested Alonzo Washington, 51, in connection with the stabbing.  He’s being held in the Dane County Jail on a substantial battery charge.

MADISON (WKOW) — Madison firefighters and police responded to a stabbing at James Madison Park Thursday evening.

A 44-year-old man was stabbed by “a known associate” after the two got into a fight on the 500 block of Gorham Street, according to a Madison Police Department incident report.

Dane County dispatchers received a call for the stabbing just after 5 p.m.

The stabbed man got the attention of a Madison Metro bus driver who called 911, according to police.

Authorities believe the known associate who did the stabbing was a thin black man last seen wearing a black hat and black pants.

Police said the stabbed man’s wound was not life-threatening, but he was taken to a hospital.
