UPDATE: Motorcyclist killed after rear-ending vehicle on Hwy 51

UPDATE (WKOW) — A 44-year-old man is dead after a crash on Highway 51 in McFarland.

McFarland police say the man was on a motorcycle when it collided with a vehicle around 11:30 a.m. Sunday, August 25 near Siggelkow Road.

Investigators believe vehicles had slowed or stopped for a crane that was walking across the road. The biker was not able to stop in time and rear-ended the vehicle.

The Milton man was taken to a hospital where he died. The 55-year-old man and his son in the vehicle were not hurt, according to police.

Highway 51 northbound was closed for two hours during the investigation.

Police say the crash is still being investigated, but no law enforcement action is expected.


MCFARLAND (WKOW) — Authorities are responding to a crash on Highway 51 at Siggelkow Road near McFarland.

According to Dane County Communications, the call came in at 11:20 Sunday morning for a car versus motorcycle crash.

Med Flight was called for at least one injury, but there’s no word on the extent of that injury.

Traffic is now back to normal after the northbound lanes of Highway 51 were closed for a few hours at Siggelkow Road.
