FITCHBURG (WKOW) — The Dane County Medical Examiner has identified Shay Watson, 17, as the victim in a Sunday night homicide in Fitchburg. Watson died from gunshot trauma, the Medical Examiner’s office reported.
Watson was a student at Verona Area High School, according to a relative.
Fitchburg police were called to a home in the 2700 block of Lyman Lane at about 9 p.m. Sunday. The caller reported finding a man dead.
In a Monday afternoon news conference, Fitchburg police chief Chad Brecklin said that there is no immediate threat to anyone in the community, and this likely was not a random act.
However, police will be looking at providing additional patrols over the next few days.
No arrest has been made, according to Brecklin.
An autopsy was completed Monday afternoon.
