Ribbon cutting for new metro line connection Sun Prairie and downtown Madison

SUN PRAIRIE (WKOW) — City of Sun Prairie officials are celebrating the new bus line that runs to the capitol square.

The line began running on Monday but on Friday a ribbon cutting was held to mark the new line. Mayor Paul Esser says the effort between Madison and Sun Prairie was done with commuters in mind.

“There are people in this community that cannot afford transportation and we need to have access to a system like metro transit in order to provide that transportation need,’ said Esser. “So coming out here isn’t simply the end of our transportation it is in fact it’s merely the beginning.”

Route 23 starts at Pinckney St. and Mifflin St — goes around the square — then to a new Park and Ride at O’Keeffe Avenue and Reiner Road before heading to Sun Prairie and back to the State Capitol.
