MADISON (WKOW) — A local woman is creating a movement to drown out cyberbullying with kindness and positivity.
On Monday, Wendy Babcock from New Lisbon stopped by Wake Up Wisconsin to talk about “The Kindness Bucket Brigade” movement.
Babcock says the idea is that when someone sees bullying online, they comment something compassionate, understanding, and kind to the cyberbully. Then you “tag” another member of the “Kindness Bucket Brigade” to also leave a comment and use the hashtag “#kindnessbucketbrigade”.
“It’s so they know why they’re tagged and that the person does the same,” said Babcock “It creates a ‘brigade’ of kindness to drown out the bullying.”
Anyone is invited to join The Kindness Bucket Brigade on Facebook. Babcock says the group was started in late August and has already grown to about 2,700 members.
