DARLINGTON (WKOW) — A Darlington man was arrested Monday after police say he stole a UTV and crashed it during his getaway.

Hunter L. Butteris, 18, was arrested about 7;30 p.m., Sept. 9, and faces possible charges of theft of property valued between $5,000 and $10,000, carrying an electric weapon and criminal damage to property.

Police say Butteris stole the vehicle from a business on Washington Street and crashed it into an adjacent building while attempting to leave the scene.

The building sustained about $2,000 in damage and the UTV, valued at $8,000, was totaled.

Police say Butteris had a Viperteck stun gun with him.
