Dogs and their people enjoy 13th Dogtoberfest

MIDDLETON (WKOW) — October is still a few weeks away, but Dogtober began Sunday in Middleton.

The 13th Dogtoberfest kicked off Sunday morning at Capital Brewery.

The annual festival brings dogs and their people out to help raise money for Dane County Humane Society.

Dogtoberfest also helps bring in new volunteers and support the mission of the pet shelter.

“Events like this are really important because we are able to reach out to our supporters and talk to them about what we’re doing at Dane County Humane Society,” said Marissa DeGroot with the humane society. “(It shows) the importance of adopting, donating and volunteering to help the shelter and help our community’s animals.”

There was Bluegrass music, food and a doggie costume contest at Dogtoberfest this year, as well.
