MADISON (WKOW) — More than 80 auditions and 40 callback performances from across Wisconsin came down to Saturday night at the Overture Center.
Saturday was the Rising Stars Finals.
The program allows acts including comedians, singers, dancers and more to compete on the Overture Center stage for a $1,000 cash prize.
“It’s open for ages 6 and up,” Alanna Medearis of the Overture Center said. “Some of them have been performing for their entire lives, and some of them have never been on a stage like this performing. So it’s a really magical moment of seeing them take the stage and have that debut in front of a large audience.”
The grand prize winner was the Water Street Dance group from Milwaukee. The group performed a dance called “Wash” by Bon Iver, original choreography by Morgan Williams
The dance group included Allison Slamann, Ashley Tomasewski, Madyun Wilson, Jasper Sanchez, Alex Seager, and Sara Silvis.
The youth winner was Andres Jimenez, who did a dance title “You Are The Reason” by Calum Scott.
The teen winner was Stevie Peterson for the song “The Girl in 14G” by Jeanine Tesori.
The adult winner was the group Soul Doctors for their original song “Rise Up”. Band members include Kelly Hepper, Fil Kennedy, Kent Hamele, Lucas Weaver
