First responders in southern Wisconsin receive safety equipment grants

SUN PRAIRE (WKOW) — First responders in southern Wisconsin are receiving financial help so they can continue to help others.

On Tuesday, the Sun Prairie Fire Department and Poynette-Dekorra Fire/EMS both received grants from Firehouse Subs.

Sun Prairie was awarded an equipment grant of $9,875 for a cutter and accessories to assist with rescuing patients in motor vehicle accidents. The Poynette-Dekorra Fire/EMS will be awarded $28,068 to purchase a cardiac monitor and defibrillator, which will replace its outdated equipment.

“It is game changing for our organization, and allows us to answer those calls with confidence knowing we have the tools to provide the life saving interventions that is necessary for our community,” said Poynette-Dekorra Fire/EMS Chief Amber Hahn.

Since 2005, Firehouse Sub Public Safety Foundation has granted more than $44 million dollars to first responders and public safety organizations.
