UW men’s hockey holds “shootout” for students to win free tickets

A long line of Badger students came out to the Kohl Center on Wednesday night to have their opportunity to try and score a goal for free tickets to a Wisconsin men’s hockey game this season. Badger hockey stars handed out free pizza to students on their way in, and also gave tours of the team’s locker room.

“Really what drives the excitement of the of our athletic department is our students who come to our games to support our games with great enthusiasm,” said men’s hockey coach Tony Granato. “We have Crease Creatures here and every different sport’s got their own special fan clubs from the student sections that make our games so much more exciting.”

Even a few hoops athletes, like Brevin Pritzl and Brad Davison stopped by to try their hand at scoring.

The college hockey rankings have yet to come out for the upcoming season, but with NHL-level talented freshmen coming in, Wisconsin has high expectations. The regular season begins on October 11th at Boston college.
