MADISON (WKOW) — People are getting together to support our homeless animals.
Dane County Humane Society hosted its Bark and Wine event on Saturday for the 17th year.
More than 300 people were expected to show up, to enjoy some wine and try a new local beer, created by The Giving Brewery, to raise money to support DCHS.
Those who showed up also got a look behind the scenes at the shelter.
“People get to come into the shelter and really see what their support is doing. They get to meet the animals that are adoptable looking for great new homes, they get to meet some alumni that have benefited from events like this and the generosity of our supporters,” said Marissa DeGroot, with Dane County Humane Society.
The humane society is hoping to raise $100,000 to help support the more than 9,000 animals that come through the shelter every year, including wildlife.
