Former Madison man sentenced to prison after seven years on the run

MADISON (WKOW) — A man who spent seven years on the run from Dane County authorities is back in the U.S. and is now headed to prison.

William Guy, formerly of Madison, was sentenced to a year in prison for fraudulently obtaining a passport. Guy pleaded guilty to the charge in August.

Guy was arrested in Austria in April of 2018. At the time, he was on the U.S. State Department’s Diplomatic Security Service’s most wanted list, according to the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin.

In addition to the federal case, Guy faces more than 50 felony charges in Dane County, including dozens of counts of possession of child pornography.
