MADISON (WKOW) — If there was ever a time to live by the mantra arriving “early is on time,” it’s Friday night.
At 6:45 p.m., 15 minutes before the Wisconsin Badgers tip-off against the Eastern Illinois Panthers in men’s basketball, the team will honor Coach Howard Moore and his family with a video tribute.
“Seeing things about him always lifts us up, knowing that we’re fighting for a bigger purpose,” said Badgers Guard D’Mitrik Trice. “We’re dedicating this season to him, so I think that’s the biggest thing that we’re going to take away, and I think that’s going to feed into us and feed into this crowd for this atmosphere to be great.”
Moore’s wife Jennifer and their nine-year-old daughter Jaidyn were killed when a wrong-way drunken driver crashed into them during a Memorial Day weekend trip to Michigan. Moore continues to recover. He’s on medical leave from the team. Their son Jerrell was released from the hospital in May.
Jerrell will be at Friday’s home opener with Moore’s parents.
