McFarland girls volleyball team advances, Waterloo falls in state semifinals

The McFarland girls volleyball team took down Bloomer in the WIAA D2 Girls Volleyball tournament, 3-0, on Friday at the Resch Center in Green Bay.

The Spartans won each set pretty handily, 25-18, 25-15, 25-14. Avery Pennekamp led the team with 13 kills, while Nina Crull chipped in 10. Lizzy Fortune had 29 of the team’s 33 assists, while Erin Eggers had 17 digs.

With the win, McFarland will face Luxemburg-Casco in the State Championship on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

The Waterloo girls volleyball team fell in straight sets to Aquinas in the Divison 3 semifinal.
