A slow climb out of the deep freeze

MADISON (WKOW) – A gradual warming trend is on the way. Temperatures should reach seasonal levels by next week.

Patchy light snow fell across the area in the afternoon and evening. Accumulations were less than an inch in most areas, which helped keep travel problems to a minimum.

Temps start chilly in the upper teens with lots of sunshine, especially by late-morning. Highs will flirt with freezing.

A thaw begins with temps climbing to the mid 30s.

It looks like an overall nice weekend with much more bearable conditions. Highs will be in the mid 30s to around 40°, though it will be cloudier.

However, average highs this time of year should still be closer to the mid 40s.

A stray sprinkle or flurry is possible on Sunday.
