Hunter fires bullet into home near Fennimore

FENNIMORE (WKOW) — Authorities expect to charge a Fennimore man for shooting a bullet into a town of Mount Ida home Friday.

Kevin Zart, 30, allegedly fired three bullets around 11:30 a.m. at a deer while out hunting with his son, according to a press release from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. An investigation found he shot two rounds in the direction of a home owned by 37-year-old Joel Belstra.

Belstra was home at the time hosting a “family gathering,” deputies said. No one was hurt.

“Charges will be filed for endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon against Kevin,” the press release said.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources assisted the sheriff’s office with the investigation.
