MADISON (WKOW) -- Two years ago, a Madison preschool teacher donated her own kidney to one of her students. Friday, she held a special party to help another young child battling a kidney disorder of his own.
For Beth Battista's 40th birthday, she asked that people help make 6-year-old Omar Touray's wish to go to Disney World come true.
Omar has a rare form of kidney cancer -- similar to what 7-year-old Lyla Carreyn had in 2017 when Battista donated a kidney to her.
More than 150 people showed up Friday night to help Omar.
"It's overwhelming that people we've never met before have found it in their hearts to help a complete stranger," said Omar's mom Jennifer Webster. "Somebody who has been through so much, just to get so much help and love and support. It's truly overwhelming."
As of Friday night, people had donated nearly $4,500 of the $6,000 goal for Omar's trip to Disney world.
