UPDATE (WKOW) -- The Dodge County Sheriff's Office released the names of the two people involved in a fatal crash on Friday near Beaver Dam.
A pickup truck being driven westbound by Jacob Anderson, 19, crossed over the centerline and hit with an SUV going eastbound driven by Charles Schultz, 66, Friday morning, according to the Dodge County Sheriff's Office.
Anderson received minor injuries but was transported by EMS for further medical evaluation.
Schultz did not have a seatbelt on and was found by emergency responders, trapped inside the SUV and unresponsive.
He was later pronounced dead while awaiting transfer to a medical helicopter at the hospital, according to the Dodge County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities say the crash remains under investigation, "but inattentive driving due to drowsiness and lack of seatbelt use are factors in the cause and seriousness of the crash"
UPDATE (WKOW) -- Authorities reopened Highway 33 near Beaver Dam.
A crash at 9:21 a.m. closed the road and traffic resumed at 12:39 p.m. according to a notification from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
UPDATE (WKOW) -- One person died from a Crash on Highway 33 in Dodge County.
The Dodge County Sheriff's Office announced the death in a press release issued Friday.
Emergency responders remain on the scene about two and a half miles east of Beaver Dam.
The crash was reported as a head-on collision on 33 near Hidden Valley Drive.
Emergency responders pulled a trapped man from his vehicle. EMS crews tried to move the man to a place where a medical helicopter could take him, but he was pronounced dead before making it to the chopper.
The crash remains under investigation by the Township of Beaver Dam Police Department, with the assistance of the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and Wisconsin State Patrol. Also assisting with the incident were the Beaver Dam Fire and EMS, UW Med Flight, and DCERT, as well as the Dodge County Highway Department for the road closure.
Highway 33 remains closed between County Highway A and Thompson Road and is expected to remain so until at least noon.
BEAVER DAM (WKOW) -- Crews are responding to a crash on WIS 33 at Hidden Valley Drive Friday morning, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
At 10 a.m. it was reported all lanes, eastbound and westbound, of WIS 33 in that area were blocked.
Traffic is expected to be impacted until noon.
The Dodge County Sheriff's Office is handling the crash.
