MADISON (WKOW) -- After a mild weekend we'll see temperatures plunge Monday night and then stay very cold through much of the week.

Highs today made it into the 40s despite increasing clouds.

Next week

A strong storm system will bring us light rain and drizzle Monday morning changing to some light snow Monday late afternoon. Little to no snow accumulation is expected over southern Wisconsin. Central and northern Wisconsin are under Winter Weather Advisories and Winter Storm Warnings for some light freezing rain and significant snow later tonight and Monday. If your traveling north tomorrow check on our latest forecasts!

Behind the system, very cold air will spill into Wisconsin dropping highs into the teens and lows into the single digits Tuesday and Wednesday. It will stay very cold through Thursday morning before temperatures start to climb again.
