MADISON (WKOW) -- The Badgers swept Texas A&M in three sets today as they put a 12-match home win-streak on the line in the NCAA volleyball Sweet 16.
With the win, the Badgers advance to the Regional final Saturday where they play the winner between 5th-ranked Nebraska and 12th-ranked Hawaii on Saturday.
The winner of the regional final game would head to the NCAA Volleyball Final Four in Pittsburgh.
This is the seventh straight season the Badgers have advanced to NCAA Regional Tournament play.
"We're just so excited to still be playing," Wisconsin volleyball coach Kelly Sheffield said ahead of the match. "You've got great opportunities in front of you. And you live for these kinds of matches. You train all year long to be able to do this kind of stuff. And to be able to do it here at home, it's cool."
This is the fourth time the program history that Wisconsin has hosted a regional tournament. The other times -- 2016, 2000 and 1997 -- the team won its Sweet 16 matches.
"Being able to be a top four seed and hosting at home has helped us not only be comfortable where we are but, like, we have a great fan base," said junior middle block Dana Rettke. "People love to watch volleyball at the Field House. So it's our home court. We want to defend that. And it's just exciting. We put a lot of hard work in in this building. So it's going to be awesome to see that pay off."
