DEKORRA TOWNSHIP (WKOW) -- A 66-year-old man and his dog were killed on Friday morning after officials say an Alliant Energy utility truck failed to stop at a sign in Columbia County.

The Columbia County Sheriff's Office said it received a report of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of County Road CS and County Road V in the Dekorra township around 9:20 a.m.

Deputies on the scene reported that an Alliant Energy utility truck failed to stop at the stop sign on County Road CS, which lead the truck to hit a 2008 Chevrolet Impala.

The 66-year-old driver of the Chevrolet Impala was declared dead at the scene of the crash. A dog riding in the car was also killed.

The Alliant Energy driver was not hurt.

Officials say Alliant Energy and its driver have been cooperating with the investigation of the crash.
