Port of Milwaukee shuts down access to Jones Island due to flooding

MILWAUKEE (WISN) -- Operations and access at Jones Island in Milwaukee were shut down Saturday afternoon due to flooding.

The Port of Milwaukee says the decision was made because of an "unprecedented" set of factors: 50 mile per hour winds, 15-foot high waves and near-record lake levels.

Water washed over the break and dock walls, making for dangerous conditions.

Tenants at the port also voluntarily stopped their operations.
