(WKOW) -- A statewide group is trying to register former prisoners who have the right to vote, but may not know it.
The group is called EX-incarcerated People Organizing or EXPO.
Members want other ex-prisoners to know their right to vote is restored if they've finished their probation and parole.
"I'm baffled by the number of individuals who I run into in the community while we're doing this, this campaign who are eligible to the vote, had been for years, but never no one ever told them: 'Your voting rights have been reinstated,'" said Jerome Dillard, Wisconsin Director of EXPO.
The group hopes to register seven thousand people before the November election.
