(WKOW) -- A 10-year-old girl who has cancer is getting love and support from local police.

Makenzee Smith was diagnosed with Stage 2b Hodgkin's Lymphoma in December.

She's been going through arduous chemotherapy.

There has been an outpouring of support from the community.

The Madison Mounted Police visited Makenzee's home and she got to go on a ride along with Mount Horeb Police Officer Robie Blankenship.

Her family says she's received countless cards and items from officers from the Madison and Mount Horeb Police Departments.

Makenzee's mother, Holly, wrote a journal entry saying her daughter is responding very well to the treatments.

After her treatment on Thursday, Makenzee stopped by the Mount Horeb Police and Fire Station to thank them for all the well wishes.
