Teams promote suicide awareness at Six Rivers Conference basketball games

Suicide Prevention Game Night

(WKOW) -- It was Suicide Prevention Game Night in counties around southern Wisconsin Friday night.

The Six Rivers Conference had an east-west crossover series to bring awareness of suicide.

Fans from the west side of the conference wore teal shirts and fans from the east side wore purple shirts.

Fourteen varsity and junior varsity games were being played in four counties.

"There's a couple of schools in our conference and in the area that have been touched by suicide in recent years so everyone just thinks it's a good idea to try to help raise awareness and prevent suicide from happening," said Zachary Woodworth, a student and member of one of the basketball teams.

Fans had a chance to buy t-shirts and the money from those sales will go to services that help with suicide awareness.
