MADISON (WKOW) - Winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories are in effect right now in southern Wisconsin.

A strong clipper system will swoop into the Upper Midwest on Sunday bringing with it significant snow accumulations.

Weather set up by Sunday

Partly to mostly cloudy tonight with a low in the mid-teens.

Snow accumulation Sunday morning to Sunday evening.

Snow will likely fall at its heaviest from sunrise through mid-afternoon before tapering by late evening tomorrow. Expect snow-covered and slippery roads throughout the day.

The highest chance for at least 4" of snow will be for areas north and northwest of Madison. Much of the area, including Dane County, will likely see 2 to 5 inches.

Communities closer to the Stateline will likely see lower snow totals, though even these spots will likely have to shovel and plow for this system.
