MADISON (WKOW) - Bitter cold wind chills tonight and tomorrow, but but much milder by Saturday
Light snow overnight accumulated to around 2 inches in most areas. The clouds cleared out this morning, but despite sunshine it was very cold with minus single digit wind chills.
A WIND CHILL ADVISORY tonight and Friday morning. Temps plummet to -10° with wind chills around -15° to -25°. This will be the coldest we've been all season long.
We stay very cold Friday with temps only rebounding the low teens, though it will be sunny. Wind chills will moderate from the minus teens and minus 20s in the morning to near 0 in the afternoon..
Temps rebound with our Arctic high pressure system drifting east. Winds turn clockwise around these types of system causing a breeze to pick up out of the SW at 10-20 mph.
This will cause temps to jump to the low and mid 30s. A few flurries are possible on Saturday and Sunday.
Another weather system moves in from the Central Plains bringing in a light mix with temps in the low 30s.
On the backside of the system, light snow is a possibility with temps in the upper 20s and low 30s.
