CHRISTIANA (WKOW) -- A Fort Atkinson man was arrested Wednesday night after crashing into a school bus while allegedly driving while intoxicated.

The Dane County Sheriff's Office says deputies were called to the intersection of State Highway 73 and Koshkonong Road in the town of Christiana just after 5 p.m.

They say a pick-up truck driving southbound crashed head-on into a school bus driving northbound.

The pickup truck driver, 40-year-old William A. Kaplan, was arrested for his third-offense OWI and bail jumping. Kaplan also faces other charges based on the extent of injuries of the people on the bus, according to sheriffs officials.

Authorities say the driver of the school bus, 63-year-old Jannette A. Becker, of Deerfield, had minor injuries. There were two passengers on the bus at the time of the crash, a 30-year-old woman and a 17-year-old man. Both passengers were examined by EMS at the scene and released, according to sheriffs officials.

Kaplan was admitted to a local hospital. A 30-year-old man, who was a passenger in the pickup truck, was not hurt in the crash, according to authorities.
