MADISON (WKOW) -- The 115th Fighter Wing of the Wisconsin Air National Guard is will hold it's last evening training flight of the week Thursday night.
Training flights with the F-15 fighter jets normally take place during daylight hours, but pilots and maintenance personnel are required to conduct nighttime operations occasionally as a part of their overall readiness.
The Air National Guard has a long history in Wisconsin.
Video shot in 1955 from the WKOW news archive shows training flights in the F-89 Scorpion.
The flights were filmed two years after WKOW went on the air and only three years after Truax Field became operational.
Now the Guard is in the process of introducing the next generation of fighter jet to Truax.
The United States Air Force currently is considering basing F-35s with Wisconsin Air National Guard’s 115th Fighter Wing at Truax Field.
