Madison firefighters free hand caught in machine

Emergency ambulance

MADISON (WKOW) -- For about 20 painful minutes, a person had their hand trapped in mechanical equipment Monday morning before firefighters were able to free the person's fingers.

Dispatchers sent firefighters and paramedics to the 2200 block of Fordem Avenue just after 1 a.m., according to a Madison Fire Department report.

Crews arrived in six minutes went about making sure power was turned off to the machine before loosening the tension on the rollers which trapped the person's hand.

Once the hand had been freed, paramedics took over by administering medical care and taking the person to a hospital.
