MADISON (WKOW) -- Democratic Rep. Deb Kolste announced Thursday during the Assembly floor session that she will not see re-election.
Kolste, 66, represents the 44th Assembly District, which includes most of Janesville.
She was first elected in 2013 and would have faced re-election Nov. 3. Representatives are elected every two years.
“To say that serving as your state representative for the last eight years has been an honor and a privilege would be a huge understatement," Kolste said in a news release. "Being in the Legislature has been an experience of a lifetime, but it has certainly not been my lifetime experience. The relationships with my family, friends and community have informed my beliefs and I hope that is what has been represented in the work that I have done in the Capitol."
Kolste said she hopes to take time to help her family and community on a more personal level.
