MADISON (WKOW) -- The Madison College baseball program will start the season later this week while on a one-year ban from the postseason. The athletic department confirmed to 27 News in a statement that the baseball program was placed on probation by the NJCAA.
"The National Junior College Athletic Association conducted a random eligibility audit in April of 2019. The college received notification in June 2019 that transfer waivers were not properly secured for three baseball student-athletes. As such, the baseball program has been placed on probation for the 2020 season and is ineligible to compete in post-season play. The college regrets that this administrative paperwork error occurred. Madison College will continue to review the processes to provide the best possible student experience for our student athletes. "
The WolfPack were also forced to forfeit 13 wins from the 2019 season, including the regional championship that clinched a spot in the NJCAA Division II World Series. The WolfPack's official record for last season is now 29-24.
