MPD: 14-year-old boys crash stolen BMW, lead police on chase

MADISON (WKOW) -- Two teenage boys were arrested after stealing an SUV, causing two hit-and-run crashes and leading police on a chase, according to the Madison Police Department.

At about 7:45 a.m. Monday, the owner of a BMW started his car and left it to warm up. When he came out of his Beld Street home the vehicle was gone.

An hour later, witnesses reported the BMW driving recklessly in the parking lot of a BP gas station on South Gammon Road. When police got there they learned the vehicle was involved in a hit-and-run at a nearby Wendy's.

Shortly after, it was involved in a second crash at the intersection of South Gammon Road and Odana Road.

Police were then told the BMW was at West Towne Mall parking lot. The vehicle was no longer drivable so the teens ran away.

Officers chased the 14-year-olds down and took them to the Juvenile Reception Center.
