The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's basketball team enjoyed their first round bye in the WIAC tournament, but now it's time to get down to business. The Pioneers not only are the top seed in their conference tournament, they plan on making a run in the NCAA tournament as well.
The Pioneers finished their regular season with a 22-3 record over and 12-2 in the WIAC.
Many of the players on the Pioneers' roster have national tournament experience. UW-Platteville is coming off back-to-back tournament runs. That experience is noticeable with this team.
"There's not a lot of sleepless night for me," said Jeff Gard. The Pioneers head coach.
"It's more about getting ready for the opponent because the upper classman are in control of this team."
UW-Platteville will play the winner of UW-Stevens Point/UW-Eau Claire, Thursday night in Platteville as part of the WIAC Tournament.
"It's really a player led team and typically those are the most dangerous teams," Gard said.
