MADISON (WKOW) -- UW-Madison has suspended its spring 2020 study abroad program in South Korea.

The decision was reached after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention raised their warning level to 3: Avoid Nonessential Travel for South Korea, according to a statement.

Study abroad programming had previously been suspended for China.

UW-Madison had five students enrolled in exchanges in South Korea this spring semester in connection with Yonsei University and Korea University in Seoul.

Tuesday night UW-Madison informed all five students and their partners in Korea.

UW-Madison will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates on any other program changes.
