DANE COUNTY (WKOW) -- More than $19 million was invested in the Dane County community, thanks to the United Way and countless donors.

The impressive total was announced during the United Way of Dane County's annual Community Celebration Thursday.

"These dollars are going toward programs and strategies that achieve measurable results in the areas of education, income, health – the building blocks of well-being. These investments ultimately help maximize people’s potential and make our community stronger," said United Way of Dane County officials.

Individual donors and hundreds of businesses who partnered with United Way in 2019 helped to make an $18.3 million investment possible.

Over $1 million more was given to the nonprofit organization through grants.

WKOW was a proud sponsor of the event. Wake Up Wisconsin's Nick Buffo and Rebecca Ribley hosted the Community Celebration.
