COLUMBUS (WKOW) -- The superintendent in the Columbus School District is now considering whether to take a book about a transgender girl off the shelves.
The book is called 10,000 Dresses.
It's about a transgender girl named bailey who dreams about wearing dresses, but her parents don't approve.
A father filed a complaint with the district, after his daughter checked out the book from the Columbus Elementary School library.
Friday, a district committee voted to keep the book on the shelf, which sends the decision to the superintendent.
The superintendent says the committee does look at whether books are age appropriate as part of its criteria.
