JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- A Janesville man was arrested Thursday after leading police on a chase and running away from officers, according to the Janesville Police Department.

An officer tried to pull over the car that Zachary Terpstra, 29, was driving at 4:15 p.m. on North Randall Avenue near East Milwaukee Street for a traffic violation.

Terpstra didn't stop and a short vehicle pursuit ensued.

Officers later found the suspect's vehicle on Erie Drive. A woman was in the front passenger seat, crying. The suspect jumped out of the car and ran away.

The Street Crimes Unit and other officers executed a search warrant at 304 Madison Street in an upper apartment and Terpstra was arrested.

He is now being held at the Rock County Jail, tentatively charged with felony fleeing, felony warrant through Wisconsin Department of Corrections and recklessly endangering safety/domestic abuse.
