BRODHEAD (WKOW) -- Dressed as a pirate, a principal in Brodhead is doing his part to keep kids learning while they're at home during the COVID-19 pandemic.

David Novy is putting on daily Facebook Lives from the Ronald R Albrecht Elementary page.

At 8 a.m. he gives morning announcements and goes through birthdays, then he reads a couple of books students have requested.

On Tuesday he read The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog! and How I Became a Pirate.

Novy said he wants his students to stick to a schedule.

"Hopefully you got up, brushed your teeth and got ready to start your day," he said. "I want you to get into a routine."

The kids and parents have loved hearing from their principal.

In the comments section of the videos, students have requested Novy do other things on Facebook Live, like experiments!
