Rain chances spike the rest of the week

MADISON (WKOW) - After a quiet set up the last couple days, active weather returns the rest of the week.

We have patchy fog this morning. After that burns off, expect some sunshine with clouds building through the afternoon with warmer temps in the mid 50s.

An area of low pressure moves in from the Central Plains, allowing a few, light showers for our Mississippi River communities and areas far north of Madison.

Everyone sees the rain as a cold front slips through late this evening and tonight. We'll pick up a tenth to a quarter of an inch region-wide.

Clouds stick around with cooler temps, but still mild in the mid to upper 40s.

A few sprinkles or light showers re-develop Thursday evening and overnight.

Temps rebound to the low and mid 50s as Clouds increase again ahead of another area of low pressure. Rain chances increase late in the evening and overnight.

Soggy conditions through the day with showers and even some rumbles of thunder with temps in the low to mid 50s.

As our low pressure system departs, we could still see some lingering, light showers, especially in the morning.

We'll pick up 1-1.5" of rain through the weekend, which could cause low-lying spots to have some standing water and rivers to continue to stay near their banks.
