MADISON (WKOW) -- Personal protective equipment (PPE) is running low across the country, but there's a little relief locally.
Eight Madison-area community provider agencies are getting PPE thanks to Bioforward Wisconsin.
The biohealth advocacy firm is distributing more than 1,100 pieces of protective eyewear and 7,000 pairs of gloves to local organizations that serve people with developmental disabilities and seniors.
While organizations are very grateful for the donation, they still need more supplies.
"One donation does not fill the big gap that we're seeing in the supply of masks and gloves. We are hopeful that other entities might step up as well," said Melissa Mulliken, the advocacy coordinator with Developmental Disabilities Coalition Inc.
Combined, the community providers employ hundreds of staff and serve about a thousand individuals in Dane County.
