MADISON (WKOW) -- Music brings people together and it's doing that for one neighborhood on Madison's east side, while people living there still practice social distancing.
People who live on Center Avenue have started singing together.
Brad Horn is one of the organizers of the sing-a-long. He says he had been organizing get-togethers for about two years, but knew they couldn't continue them due to limits on gatherings and social distancing recommendations.
Since some of his neighbors are musicians, they chose to sing outside their homes.
Horn says singing together is a way to support each other.
"People tend to get to know each other well in trying times like this," Horn told 27 News. "I'm really hoping we come out of it closer than ever before."
Horn said the pandemic made him truly realize how important small things, like small talk or short conversations with neighbors, can be in creating a sense of community.
