MADISON (WKOW) -- Many fans have asked for them, and on Monday, UW Athletics announced that handrails will be added inside Camp Randall Stadium.
The installation will take place prior to the start of the 2020 football season.
Railings were added to limited locations inside Camp Randall prior to the 2019 season, now it appears they will be added throughout the stadium.
27 News first told you in 2018 about the concerns longtime season ticket holders have had with navigating the steps of the stadium without railings. In some cases, those fans had to stop going to the games because they were afraid of falling.
“I am very happy that we are going to be able to accommodate so many of our fans by adding handrails inside the stadium,” Director of Athletics Barry Alvarez said. “We are constantly trying to add amenities to the stadium and this is one that will positively affect a lot of people.”
The new railings will be installed over the summer. The south end zone will have new handrails installed as part of its upcoming renovation.
