JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- When facing challenging times, Americans seek out ways to help one another.

Local police are strapped for personal protective equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to a lack of access needed to purchase and maintain proper first aid equipment, police and first responders are showing up to situations unprotected from exposure to the virus.

Janesville company VIKTOS, along with MyMedic, delivered a supply of PPE to the Janesville Police Department Thursday. The donation was made possible by the Give Kits Foundation.

"These have been some really tough times for our officers to stay safe," said Janesville Police Chief David Moore. "We're burning through a lot of this safety equipment often because we need to keep our officers safe. To have this level of a donation to help us through this is just really really great."
