BRODHEAD (WKOW) -- The people who live in Brodhead are looking out for each other.

Volunteers handed out contactless, free take 'n bake meals to families, enough to feed six people -- no questions asked.

People could drive up to the Living World Church starting at noon Friday until the meals were gone.

"People have not been able to get their unemployment checks. People are out of work. The COVID-19 has really impacted the whole area. So the Brodhead chamber of commerce with the businesses and the church, decided let's reach out and make a difference for someone," said Michael Lowry, the president of the chamber of commerce.

There were 100 meals to give away.

Some kids wrote letters of encouragement or drew pictures of hope to include in the bags.
