Waunakee Police investigating after suspects fire shots during confrontation with homeowner


WAUNAKEE (WKOW) -- Waunakee Police are investigating a confrontation that involved multiple shots being fired this morning on Woodland Drive.

Police Chief Adam Kreitzman tells 27 News that a vehicle was stolen overnight from the home on 5900 Block of Woodland Drive.

The suspects later returned to the home around 7:15 a.m. because something was left behind. The homeowner confronted the suspects, that's when one of them displayed a handgun and shots were fired.

Nobody was hurt. The suspects were gone by the time police arrived to the scene.

Waunakee Police is being assisted by Dane County Sheriff's Office and Wisconsin State Patrol.
