MADISON (WKOW) -- The owner of a local apartment company is assembling crews and contractors to help repair some of the businesses on State Street damaged by looters.

Boys and Girls Club CEO Michael Johnson announced John McKenzie and McKenzie Apartment Company want to help some of the businesses whose damages aren't covered by insurance.

McKenzie told Johnson, "We don't want them out of business." McKenzie says he will provide support from plumbers, electricians, painters and others who work for McKenzie Apartment Company.

The Boys and Girls Club of Dane County also started a fundraising effort to help State Street businesses, which has raised $170,000 so far according to the GoFundMe page.
