Hottest May on record worldwide

MADISON (WKOW)- Earth has just experienced its hottest May on record,
with temperatures 0.63°C above average.

How does this compare locally? The average high-temperature last month was 66.5°F and a low of 46.1°F, in Madison.

The warmest day in May was 86°F which we hit on the 26th of the month. The lowest temperature was a low of 25°F on the morning of the 9th.

The average high temperature for the month of May, is usually around 70 degrees in southern Wisconsin, which makes May 2020 much cooler than average by near 4 degrees!

It was a cool May for the Badger State mainly because the polar vortex jet stream dipped into the eastern half of the United States early in the month.
