Madison apartment fire causes $25,000 in damage, no injuries

MADISON (WKOW) -- A fire caused significant smoke damage to an apartment on Madison's north side Saturday.

The Madison Fire Department said that firefighters were sent to the 3700 block of East Karstens Drive around 11:00 a.m. after someone noticed smoke coming from one of the apartments on the second floor.

Firefighters entered the apartment to find it filled with thick, black smoke from ceiling to floor.

The fire was located by the firefighters and was quickly extinguished.

According to the Madison Fire Department, the apartment residents were not home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Officials say that the fire caused an estimated $25,000 in damage.
